His Story:

Michael Wills was born to Darren and Sandra Wills on June 13, 1958 in Meridian, MS. His parents died when he was five. With no family to take care of him, he was assigned to the Masonic Home orphanage in Meridian. For one reason or another, he was never adopted and remained a ward of the state until he turned 18.

During high school, Michael showed himself talented in football and basketball. He played wide receiver and cornerback for the football team. He also played power forward for the basketball team. His athletic ability on the basketball court earned him a basketball scholarship to the University of Southern Mississippi. During the 1976-77 basketball season, Michael averaged 12.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game. During the 1977-78 basketball season, Michael’s averages droped to 11.8 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game.

Michael was roomed with Curtis Bronk, who is the brother of MVW wrestler April. Michael enjoyed a wonderful basketball career at Southern Miss even though the Golden Eagles never made it to the national tournament during his time. It was thought that after his senior year Michael would be drafted into the NBA, but every team passed on him. He did manage to sign a contract with the CBA’s Montana Golden Nuggets. He played one season with them and was forced to decide between his CBA commitments and his MVW commitments. Thankfully for wrestling fans along the Mighty Mississippi, Michael chose the MVW. He did, however, return to the CBA for the 1992-93 season with the Rapid City Thrillers. He played in three games and scored seven points total in those games.

After his wrestling and basketball careers were over, in 1994, Michael married his high school sweetheart Tanitha Jackson. He now lives in Sundance, Wyoming with her and her four children from her first marriage. They have one child, Alex, together who followed MVW on the Internet until it folded. He was crushed that he would not be able to be a professional wrestler in the same organization his father had been so dominant in.
